This summer's beekeeping season has been a challenging one with the beekeepers beekeeping in and around the fires at Lake Pedder. To appreciate the magnitude of the fires visit firecentre.org.au/the-2019-tasmanian-fires-so-far-what-has-burned-and-where/ . The long term impacts of the fires, on the floral resource around Lake Pedder, are yet to be determined.
Fennel honey is quite a rare thing. Fennel comes from the Fennel plant (Foeniculum vulgare).
We all know about fennel seeds as we enjoy them sprinkled on different types of bread. And some of us know that fennel is a highly aromatic and flavorful herb with culinary and medicinal uses.
Fennel honey is dark coloured, fragrant and with a taste of caramel. Some tasters described the taste - a hint of licorice, citrus, and handmade marshmallows.
Please Note due to Quarantine restrictions Tasmanian Honey is not available to be sent to Western Australia, Kangaroo Island and New Zealand.
